Job summary

The Bistro Group is seeking a Repair & Maintenance Engineer to oversee repair, maintenance, and preventive programs across our restaurant sites. You will ensure reliable operation of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and related systems while coordinating with contractors and service providers.

You will inspect equipment, diagnose issues, and propose repairs or replacements, maintaining accurate maintenance records and ensuring compliance with safety standards and building codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Licensed Mechanical Engineer (RME/PEME) is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical layouts, and plumbing.
• Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot using MEPF plans.
• Experience in repair, maintenance, facilities management, or engineering operations in a commercial/restaurant environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication, coordination, and project management abilities.
• Willing to travel to different company locations; able to work a fixed schedule with rest days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; Thursday–Monday operations.
• Willing to respond to urgent maintenance needs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections to identify equipment issues, maintenance requirements, and potential safety hazards.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
• Monitor and ensure the proper operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, commercial refrigeration, electrical systems, plumbing, and other restaurant equipment.

• Monitor the completion and quality of maintenance activities and ensure compliance with company standards.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
• Respond promptly to urgent equipment breakdowns and maintenance concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, service reports, repairs, and equipment history.
• Ensure that all repair and maintenance activities comply with safety standards, building codes, and company policies.
• Perform site inspections and provide technical recommendations for repair, replacement, and improvement projects.
• Perform other related engineering and maintenance duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Preferably a Licensed Mechanical Engineer (RME/PEME).
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, commercial refrigeration, electrical layouts, and plumbing.
• Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot using Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPF) plans.
• With experience in repair, maintenance, facilities management, or engineering operations, preferably in a commercial or restaurant environment.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication, coordination, and project management skills.
• Willing to conduct site visits and travel to different company locations as required.
• Work Schedule Flexibility: Must be fully willing and able to work a fixed schedule with rest days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, covering Thursday through Monday operations.
• Willing to respond to urgent maintenance and equipment concerns when required.
