TOYO CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD. in Metro Manila is seeking a Materials Engineer 2 on a contract basis to oversee material specs, QA, and compliance across our projects.

The role emphasizes ensuring materials meet industry standards and regulatory requirements while supporting site teams and maintaining testing documentation. The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering background with 3–5 years in materials engineering or QC, and familiarity with ASTM/BS/Philippine standards and laboratory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in materials engineering or quality control within construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials (concrete, steel, aggregates, asphalt) and their properties.
• Experience with material testing methods and standards (ASTM/BS/Philippine).
• Proficiency with material testing equipment and laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct material testing and analysis to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Develop and implement material specifications for concrete, steel, aggregates and other construction materials.
• Oversee supplier quality control and manage material procurement processes.
• Prepare material test reports and documentation for regulatory and project records.
• Collaborate with project engineers and site supervisors to address material-related challenges.
• Perform site inspections to monitor material delivery, storage and handling procedures.
• Recommend corrective actions when materials fail to meet standards.
• Maintain detailed records of all material testing and quality assurance activities.

About the role

TOYO CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD. is seeking a Materials Engineer 2 to join our Civil/Structural Engineering team in Metro Manila on a contract basis. This is a pivotal role within our organization, where you will take responsibility for overseeing material specifications, quality assurance, and compliance across our construction projects. As Materials Engineer 2, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all materials used in our projects meet industry standards and regulatory requirements, directly contributing to the safety, durability, and success of our construction endeavours.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct material testing and analysis to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards

• Develop and implement material specifications for concrete, steel, aggregates and other construction materials

• Oversee supplier quality control and manage material procurement processes

• Prepare material test reports and documentation for regulatory and project records

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline

• Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in materials engineering or quality control within the construction industry

• Strong knowledge of construction materials including concrete, steel, aggregates, asphalt and their properties

• Proficiency in material testing methods and familiarity with relevant standards such as ASTM, BS, or local Philippine standards

• Experience with material testing equipment and laboratory procedures

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities

• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across project teams

• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining rigorous quality standards

• Knowledge of relevant construction codes and regulatory requirements in the Philippines is advantageous

• Valid driver's licence and willingness to conduct site visits and inspections
