Job summary

Sta. Clara International Corp. is seeking a licensed Civil Engineer to oversee material testing and quality control for major projects.

You will ensure compliance with specifications, advise on acceptance of materials, and lead test programs at the site laboratory. With at least five years of similar experience and a DPWH accreditation, you will design concrete and bitumen mixes, conduct soil surveys, maintain records, and supervise field operations to prevent delays and ensure workmanship meets

Qualifications

  • Must be a licensed Civil Engineer in the Philippines.
  • With at least 5 years work experience in the same capacity or equivalent.
  • Must be a DPWH accredited Materials Engineer II
  • Must have a strong sense of professionalism and integrity

  • Must possess good communication and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • To ascertain that all materials incorporated into the work are in accordance with the Standard Specifications of the project and to strictly comply with the conditions of the Minimum Material Testing Requirements.
  • To advice the Project Engineer on the acceptance or rejection of construction materials intended for use in the project, based on test results.
  • Recommend to the Project Engineer remedial measures for the correction of unsatisfactory condition of materials.
  • Take samples and monitor testing of all raw materials at the jobsite material testing laboratory
  • To prepare design mixes for concrete and bitumen mixtures.
  • To conduct soil investigations and materials survey of probable sources of materials, and report approximate quantity available, suitability of materials and other pertinent data.
  • To ensure that concrete samples are properly cured by standard procedures.
  • To ensure that samples sent to the accredited laboratory are well packed in durable containers to avoid damages in transit, and that all samples are accompanied by a card filled-up with details.
  • To fully acquaint himself with the standard procedures in sampling, testing, and quality control of materials.
  • To ensure that the field laboratory is adequately equipped such that the progress of the work will not be impeded by the testing and that non-performance of tests shall not be a cause of delay in the prosecution of works.
  • To ensure that all laboratory equipment are protected against dust or foreign matters that might destroy their sensitivity.
  • To ensure that all weighing devices and testing machines are properly maintained and calibrated in accordance with the DPWH-BRS Standard Specifications.
  • To have at all times the complete and up-to-date materials map of the project, charts and diagrams showing progress of work.
  • To keep a record/logbook of his daily activity ready for inspection anytime.
  • To strictly comply with all instructions and memoranda.
  • To submit within a required time frame tests reports and other pertinent papers to the QA/QC Manager.
  • To develop a system for filing pertinent reports on testing quality control ready for appraisal at any given time, inspection, or quality assurance audit.
  • Other works and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.
