Key Responsibilities
- Operations Management: Oversee daily lab activities, including sampling, preparation, and testing of construction materials (concrete, steel, aggregates, soil, asphalt).
- Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality control (QC) measures, ensuring accurate results adhere to relevant standards (e.g., ASTM, DPWH) and project specifications.
- Staff Leadership: Manage, train, and supervise laboratory technicians and personnel, fostering a productive and safe work environment.
- Equipment & Maintenance: Maintain, calibrate, and schedule maintenance for all laboratory testing equipment to ensure reliability.
- Reporting & Compliance: Prepare detailed test reports, communicate findings, and ensure compliance with national/international building codes and standards.
- Budget & Inventory: Manage lab expenses, track material inventory, and contribute to cost estimates for projects.
- Coordination: Liaise with site engineers, project managers, and external accredited labs for certification.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (CE) or Chemistry is typical; licensed engineers preferred.
- Experience: Significant experience in construction materials testing, laboratory operations, and quality control/assurance (at least 5 years and above).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating lab equipment, knowledge of material properties, and familiarity with testing procedures (e.g., sieve analysis, slump test, compression tests, flexural, tensile, compaction, soil analysis, chemical analysis, etc.).
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication (written & oral), attention to detail, problem-solving, and ability to work under pressure.
