Qualifications

The Machine Shop Supervisor oversees machining and fabrication activities to support the maintenance and repair of plant equipment. This role ensures that all tasks meet quality standards, are performed efficiently, and comply with safety protocols. The position works closely with maintenance and production teams to provide critical components and solutions for mechanical systems and equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Machine Shop Management

• Supervise daily machining, welding, and fabrication activities in the machine shop.
• Plan and prioritize tasks to meet maintenance and repair schedules.
• Ensure effective utilization of manpower, tools, and equipment.

2. Quality Assurance

• Ensure fabricated components meet technical specifications and quality standards.
• Inspect completed work to verify compliance with specifications and tolerances and address any discrepancies.
• Maintain documentation of fabrication processes and inspection results.

3. Resource Optimization and Equipment Management

• Manage inventory of tools, consumables, and raw materials used in the machine shop.
• Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of resources.
• Monitor the condition and maintenance of machining tools and equipment.
• Procure necessary supplies and spare parts in coordination with the procurement team.

4. Collaboration and Coordination

• Work closely with Maintenance Planners, Technicians, and Supervisors to align machine shop activities with maintenance goals.
• Support Shift Supervisors by providing fabricated parts for scheduled maintenance tasks.
• Communicate effectively with production teams to maximize equipment uptime during repairs.
• Identify opportunities to enhance machining and fabrication processes.
• Implement best practices and innovations in machine shop operations.
• Support initiatives to improve the reliability and performance of mechanical systems.

6. Safety and Compliance

• Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards in the machine shop.
• Conduct safety training and regular audits to maintain a safe work environment.
• Stay updated on industry regulations and standards applicable to machining and fabrication.

7. Training and Development

• Train and mentor machine shop personnel in machining and safety practices.
• Identify skill gaps and recommend training programs for team members.

8. Other Duties

• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Maintenance Manager, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving organizational needs.

Qualifications

1. Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Licensed Mechanical Engineer (LME).
• Extensive experience in machining, fabrication, and welding within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
