- Safely and continuously operate large-scale refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
- Monitor system performance to ensure it operates within the correct parameters and meets production or storage needs.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance tasks to keep equipment in good working order and prevent downtime.
- Identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues with the refrigeration systems and report to the immediate superior.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, quality standards, and environmental regulations, especially regarding refrigerants.
- Ensure a continuous supply of utilities like electricity and water, which are often linked to refrigeration operations.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is usually the minimum requirement.
- Many operators pursue technical training or an associate's degree in HVAC or refrigeration technology.
- Specialized certifications, like the TESDA-accredited Industrial Refrigeration Operation & Maintenance Level III qualification, are often required, especially for operating and maintaining systems with natural refrigerants like ammonia.
- A strong understanding of thermodynamics, mechanical and electrical systems, and the refrigeration cycle is essential.
