Job summary

Lloyd’s Register in Spain is seeking a M&O Senior Surveyor to inspect existing vessels and materials, manage projects, and advise on service delivery within budget and contract requirements.

The role involves producing deliverables on schedule, presenting results to clients, and ensuring compliance with procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards. CPD is encouraged, and leadership in technical and commercial aspects is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in engineering or physical science.
• Membership of a professional institution.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards).
• Experience with verification processes, product and rule development, and project management within budgets/timescales.
• Strong English communication at all levels.

What we are looking for

• This position is based in the South of Spain, and covers the relevant activities in that area for Existing vessels, Materials & components. Occasional work outside of this area is also expected to cover business needs. The role is primarily dealing with the survey of Existing vessels and Materials & components activities and will be appointed at Surveyor or Senior Surveyor grade depending on experience and skills..

The Role

• As a surveyor you will conduct relevant activities, undertake project management and provide advice for service delivery within own area of experience, adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements.
• Produce the deliverable to the agreed schedule, budget and quality levels within an appropriate format and take responsibility to review and monitor other employee’s work as requested.
• Discuss and present the deliverable with the internal / external client and be able to suggest solutions as necessary.
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
• Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
• Assess or recommend the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client and to assist in identifying the most appropriate fee and cost structure.
• Contribute to external client management; ensuring service delivery is continually improved through monitoring and acting on client feedback appropriately.
• Ensure the appropriate authorizations are gained and are kept up to date. This may involve Activity Monitoring.

What you bring

Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:

• A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognized by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
• Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards).
• To work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics.
• Previous experience of verification processes, product and rule development and project management with experience of delivering technical services and products within defined budgets and timescales.
• To be able to use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to optimise the application of existing and emerging technology.
• To be able to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to analyse and solve engineering problems.
• To provide technical and commercial leadership within the responsibilities assigned.
• To demonstrate effective interpersonal skills including communication in English at all levels
