Job summary

Avattech Solutions Center Opc in the Philippines, Alabang, is seeking a logistics specialist to build our ocean freight network and manage FCL bookings from overseas factories.

You will negotiate rates, coordinate shipments, and ensure accurate documentation across the end-to-end process, using strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics or related field.
• At least three years in ocean freight or international logistics.
• Hands-on experience booking full-container-load shipments.
• Experience sourcing freight forwarders and negotiating rates.
• Knowledge of import-export documents (invoices, packing lists, B/L).
• Familiar with Incoterms, lanes, cutoffs, transit times, and surcharges.
• Strong attention to detail with shipments data.
• Proficient in Excel (lookups, pivots, trackers).

• Hands-on experience booking full-container-load shipments from overseas factories
• Experience sourcing freight forwarders and negotiating ocean freight rates and commercial terms
• Strong working knowledge of commercial invoices and packing lists, bills of lading, shipping instructions, certificates of origin, and other common import-export documents
• Working knowledge of container types, shipping lanes, Incoterms, cutoff dates, transit times, free time, demurrage, detention, and common ocean-freight surcharges
• Strong attention to detail when checking quantities, weights, product descriptions, parties, container numbers, seal numbers, ports, and dates
• Strong Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, rate comparisons, shipment trackers, and reconciliation of large data sets
• Able to work onsite in Alabang, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Job Description:

• Build our freight-forwarder network. Identify and evaluate new freight forwarders that can support our international shipping lanes. Review their service coverage, carrier relationships, capacity, responsiveness, documentation quality, transit options, and commercial terms. Maintain a qualified pool of partners so the company is not dependent on one provider.
• Negotiate ocean freight rates and terms. Request and compare quotations for full-container-load shipments. Negotiate base ocean freight, origin and destination charges, free time, documentation fees, and other applicable surcharges. Compare the total expected cost, not only the headline rate, and secure the required management approval before committing the company.
• Book containers from factories to customers and warehouses. Coordinate bookings based on production readiness, customer requirements, shipping instructions, and required delivery dates. Confirm the correct origin, destination, container type, carrier, sailing schedule, cutoff dates, and consignee information before the booking is finalized.
• Coordinate factory-direct shipments. Work with overseas factories and freight partners to move containers directly to customers or other approved destinations. Make sure the factory, forwarder, customer, and internal teams are working from the same shipping instructions.
• Track every shipment milestone. Monitor booking confirmation, empty-container release, loading, documentation cutoff, port gate-in, vessel departure, transshipment, arrival, customs clearance, delivery, and empty-container return. • Control import and export documentation. Review commercial invoices and packing lists (CIPL), bills of lading (B/L), shipping instructions, certificates of origin, and other required shipment documents. • Review bills of lading carefully. Check draft bills of lading before approval and coordinate corrections with the forwarder or carrier. Confirm the shipper, consignee, notify party, commodity, package count, gross weight, container, seal, port, and freight terms before documents are finalized.
• Coordinate shipment exceptions. Address rolled bookings, vessel changes, port congestion, document discrepancies, customs holds, missed cutoffs, container shortages, and delivery delays. Identify the required action, assign the next step, and keep stakeholders informed until the issue is closed.
• Control avoidable freight charges. Track free time, demurrage, detention, storage, and other accessorial charges. Escalate containers at risk and document the cause of unexpected charges so recurring problems can be corrected.
• Keep clear and auditable records. Maintain quotations, rate comparisons, booking confirmations, shipping instructions, document versions, approvals, correspondence, shipment status, and forwarder performance records. Use Excel to identify cost changes, delays, and service issues by forwarder, carrier, lane, factory, or destination.
• Communicate across teams and time zones. Give factories, forwarders, customers, brokers, and US-based teams clear written updates. State the issue, owner, required action, deadline, and business impact so problems can be resolved without long email chains.
