Qualifications

• Lawyer/Bar Passer
• Must have a valid and current Notarial Commission

• Demonstrated experience in litigation, case evaluation, and settlement negotiation
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail for corporate secretarial and compliance work
• Strong legal research skills and with good negotiation and presentation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Ability to work and stay calm under pressure

About the role

The Legal Counsel provides comprehensive legal advice and services to support the operations of the company. This includes formulating legal strategy, managing external counsel, overseeing discovery and pleadings, and representing the company in mediation, arbitration, and administrative hearings. Proactively identifies early settlement opportunities to mitigate financial and reputational exposure. This role ensures legal compliance, manages corporate documentation, mitigates legal risks, and handles notarial acts required for internal and external transactions for the company and its affiliates / clients. This position is also responsible for providing support to the company in building and maintaining harmonious and productive employee-employer partnerships by ensuring compliance with all company policies and labor standards and implementing the Code of Conduct and other disciplinary actions. It assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of labor relations programs and policies, as well as handling various aspects of labor relations including contract administration, grievance handling, and labor negotiations.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, agreements, and legal documents to ensure they comply with legal requirements and strongly align with the organization's strategic goals and risk tolerance

• Monitor and ensure the organization's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards

• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate legal, regulatory, and reputational risks across the organization

• Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps and address them proactively

• Develop, implement, and review internal compliance policies, procedures, and controls

• Attend hearings in court and coordinate with various government agencies when necessary

• Evaluate the merits of legal cases, claims, and potential disputes and develop and implement effective defense or resolution strategies

• Manage a docket of litigation matters from inception through resolution, including case investigation, legal research, and drafting of pleadings, motions, and briefs

• Represent the company at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials and prepare company witnesses and corporate representatives for depositions and testimony

• Actively pursue pre-litigation settlements and alternative dispute resolution methods to mitigate risk and control costs
