Job summary

Dempsey Resource Management Inc. is seeking an experienced corporate legal counsel on-site in Cebu. The role focuses on providing legal guidance for the energy and power industry, drafting and reviewing contracts to protect company interests, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

The ideal candidate will have a Philippine law license and 5+ years in legal roles within energy, with strong negotiation and cross-cultural communication skills in English and Filipino.

Qualifications

• Must hold LL.B. or JD and be licensed to practice in the Philippines.
• Minimum 5 years of legal experience, preferably in energy/power.
• Experience with regulatory compliance, contract law, and corporate governance in startups is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of renewable energy regulations and environmental laws.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in English and Filipino; able to work independently and collaboratively.

• Manage and mitigate legal risks by developing and implementing policies and procedures.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings, arbitrations, or negotiations when necessary.
• Support the management team in business decisions by providing clear legal insights and strategies.
• Collaborate with external legal firms as needed for specialized legal matters.
• Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure proactive compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B. or Juris Doctor) and licensed to practice law in the Philippines.
• Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably in the energy and power industry.
• Prior experience with regulatory compliance, contract law, and corporate governance in a startup environment is a plus.
