Job summary

Flat Planet Philippines , Inc. in Makati is seeking a qualified legal and compliance professional to lead corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and contract management.

The role covers advising on labor, data privacy, and corporate law, drafting and negotiating agreements, and liaising with external counsel. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience in legal/compliance within regulated sectors, a valid law license, and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) degree; must be a licensed lawyer.
• 3–5 years of experience in legal and/or compliance roles.
• Experience in regulated industries such as BPO, financial services, healthcare preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Labor Law, Corporate Law, Data Privacy Regulations, SEC Regulations, PEZA Requirements, BOI Regulations and Government Compliance Processes.

Key Responsibilities

Legal

• Provide legal advice and guidance on contracts, labor law, corporate law, data privacy, and regulatory matters.

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.

• Manage legal documentation and maintain organized and confidential legal records.

• Liaise with external legal counsel and manage litigation, disputes, and legal proceedings as required.

• Act as Corporate Secretary for the group and support corporate governance initiatives.

• Assist with intellectual property, licensing, and corporate compliance matters.

• Monitor legal developments and regulatory changes that may impact business operations.

• Handle labor-related disputes, court proceedings, hearings, and alternative dispute resolution activities.

• Provide legal support to management and business units on a wide range of operational and strategic matters.

• Perform other duties requiring in-house legal counsel support.

Compliance

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's compliance framework and compliance program.

• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, including:

  • Data Privacy regulations

  • Labor laws

  • BIR requirements

  • SEC regulations

  • PEZA requirements

  • BOI compliance obligations

  • Other government and regulatory requirements

• Lead compliance activities and manage submissions to regulatory agencies and government offices.

• Ensure all business permits, licenses, and registrations remain valid and current.

• Monitor compliance obligations across business functions and ensure deadlines are met.

• Partner with departments to identify compliance risks and recommend effective solutions.

• Conduct compliance risk assessments and internal compliance reviews.

• Investigate compliance gaps and implement corrective actions.

• Keep the organization informed of regulatory updates and legislative changes.

• Develop and maintain an annual compliance calendar and compliance plan.

• Lead initiatives to improve regulatory reporting efficiency and deadline management.

• Support the development and implementation of a Compliance Calendar application.

• Work closely with Finance and other departments to ensure regulatory filings and government reports are completed accurately and on time.

• Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and risk awareness throughout the organization.

• Perform additional compliance-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) Degree.

• Must be a licensed lawyer in good standing.

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in legal and/or compliance roles.

• Experience within regulated industries such as BPO, financial services, healthcare, or similar sectors is highly preferred.
