Job summary

Iron Mountain is seeking an innovative Lead Platform Engineer — Platform Development to shape the internal developer experience. You will architect and evolve a Backstage-based platform, bridging strategic direction with daily coding to enable fast, secure cloud workloads.

You will lead Kubernetes ecosystems, contribute to the codebase (50%+ hands-on) in Python/Go/TypeScript, and explore AI-driven tooling to boost developer productivity, while mentoring the team in GitOps practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical architecture of our Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and Kubernetes ecosystems by authoring Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
• Contribute directly to the platform codebase (50%+ hands-on) utilizing Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Explore and integrate Generative AI capabilities, such as automated troubleshooting agents and LLM-driven coding guardrails, to boost developer productivity.
• Partner with Product Owners to create Golden Path templates, reducing cognitive load and simplifying deployment pipelines.
• Mentor and elevate team members through architectural deep-dives, code reviews, and progressive adoption of GitOps deployment models.
