Job summary

Tastewell Food Group Inc. is seeking a versatile cook to report to the Store Supervisor and lead the kitchen team in preparation and production of all menu items. You will ensure high food quality, safety, and cleanliness while maintaining inventory and coordinating with suppliers.

The role requires hands-on maintenance of cooking equipment, training of junior staff, and handling cash transactions when needed. You will support smooth operations with a focus on food safety and pest prevention.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform minor repairs and routine maintenance.
• Able to manage daily, weekly, and monthly inventory records.
• Able to implement FIFO and comply with food safety standards in storage.
• Able to interact with customers and address their needs when staff is limited.
• Able to process customer orders on POS and handle cash transactions.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the work of assistant cook, kitchen helper, and dishwashing/cleaning crew.
• Train kitchen helper in food preparation and cooking.
• Ensure all cooking equipment is in good condition including stove, burner, griller, and exhaust machines.
• Ensure all cooking utensils and equipment are complete and in good condition.
• Ensure cooking equipment and tools are used correctly to prevent damage and improve efficiency.
• Keep kitchen clean at all times and prevent pests or insects.
• Report any equipment damage or needed repairs including exhaust, plumbing, gas, and electrical systems.
• Perform minor repairs such as fixing broken tiles, cleaning burner for blue flame, minor painting or patching to prevent leaks, replacing fan belts, etc.
• Monitor inventory levels of ingredients to ensure all menu items are available.
• Coordinate with store supervisor for ordering products from commissary or supplier.
