Job summary

Tastewell Food Group Inc. is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to manage the preparation and production of all menu items, ensuring quality and cleanliness in the kitchen. You will oversee assistants, train helpers, and ensure equipment is properly maintained.

The role requires adherence to strict food safety standards, FIFO inventory practices, and accurate POS transactions while maintaining service for customers during staff shortages.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the work of assistant cook, kitchen helper, and dishwashing/cleaning crew
• Train kitchen helper in food preparation and cooking
• Ensure all cooking equipment is in good condition including stove, burner, griller, and exhaust machines
• Ensure all cooking utensils and equipment are complete and in good condition
• Ensure cooking equipment and tools are used correctly to prevent damage and improve food preparation efficiency
• Keep kitchen clean at all times and ensure no pests or insects are present
• Report any equipment damage or needed repairs including exhaust, plumbing, gas, and electrical systems
• Perform minor repairs such as fixing broken tiles, cleaning burner for blue flame, minor painting or patching to prevent leaks, replacing fan belts, and similar tasks
• Monitor inventory levels of ingredients to ensure all menu items are available and communicate with store supervisor for product orders
• Verify quality of products received from supplier or commissary and report unacceptable quality to store supervisor
• Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly inventory of products for proper recording and verification
• Ensure no food or ingredients are damaged or wasted
• Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) and comply with food safety standards in storing food, raw or cooked
• Interact with customers and address their needs when needed due to limited staff
• Process customer orders in POS and verify payment received and adjust change for customers
• Immediately report any loss or theft to Area Manager for appropriate action
