AboitizPower is seeking a Chemical Process Analyst in Mariveles, Bataan to analyze and interpret data for water, wastewater, coal, ash and oil quality, ensuring parameters meet specifications and recommending operational adjustments.

You will perform standard lab procedures, maintain equipment, support safety and quality standards, and collaborate with the Chemical Services and Operating Department teams to sustain reliable plant operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Power Generation Industry (lab or water treatment).
  • Chemical Technician License preferred; basic project and time management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standard test procedures, sampling, handling and lab analysis for water, wastewater, coal, ash, and oil.
  • Ensure process parameters stay within specifications; provide operational recommendations.
  • Execute maintenance, calibration checks, and record updates for lab equipment and online analyzers.
  • Maintain lab environment, housekeeping, inventory, and create Chemical Services purchase requisitions.

The Chemical Process Analyst will be responsible for the analysis and datainterpretation of water, wastewater, coal, ash, and oil quality parameters. Theincumbent will also be responsible for ensuring that all process quality parametersare within acceptable specifications and perform necessary adjustments andoperational recommendations as needed.

As Chemical Process Analyst, you will perform the analysis, data interpretation, and operational adjustments for water, wastewater, coal, ash, and oil quality parameters to support reliable plant operations and contribute directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with the Chemical Services Section and Operating Department team to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Perform standard test procedures, sampling, sample handling, and laboratory analysis for water, wastewater, coal, ash, and oil parameters while maintaining quality control criteria and proper sample coding.
  • Ensure process parameters remain within acceptable specifications, providing necessary operational recommendations, corrective actions, and adjustments based on test results.
  • Execute scheduled maintenance, calibration, calibration checks, and record updates for all laboratory equipment and online analyzers under the Chemical Services Section.
  • Maintain laboratory environmental conditions, good housekeeping, non-chemical inventory levels, and create Purchase Requisitions for Chemical Services-related items while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

What You Will Need:
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the Power Generation Industry working either in Laboratory or Water Treatment
  • Chemical Technician License (preferred); basic project management and time management skills
Technical / Functional Skills:

Proficiency in power plant chemistry, standard laboratory testing techniques and equipment, online analyzers, sample preparation/handling, risk assessment, and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that he/she had the appropriate training before performing any laboratory activity.
  • Ensure that he/she is knowledgeable in power plant chemistry.
  • Ensure that the appropriate environment for sample preparation and analysis is maintained at all times.
  • Make sure that good housekeeping is observed in the laboratory and all the sampling areas.
  • Perform test procedures and measuring technique based on standards.
  • Ensure that all laboratory equipment and online analyzers under the custody of the Chemical Services Section will undergo the scheduled maintenance as per the instruction manual.
  • Responsible for updating the maintenance record of all laboratory equipment and online analyzers under the custody of the Chemical Services Section.
  • Report, record, and rectify any irregularities in the equipment before performing any analysis.
  • Ensure that all laboratory equipment are calibrated before use.
  • Make sure that all standards used in calibration are acceptable as per standards.
  • Assists the Chemist in performing calibration and calibration checks as per schedule using reference standards and ensure that proper documentation is kept.
  • Responsible for making sure that the sampling procedure is implemented and that the appropriate sample container is provided.
  • Ensure that the procedure for transport, receipt, handling, protection, storage, retention and/or disposal of samples are followed at all times.
  • Make sure that labels of samples should always follow the established laboratory coding.
  • Ensure that the established Quality Control Criteria for Laboratory procedures is followed at all times.
  • Responsible for the review of test results before reporting.
  • Ensure that correct forms are used in reporting test results.
  • Provide corrective actions/recommendations depending on laboratory test results if applicable.
  • Ensure that all direct reports are in compliance with all existing procedures and external government regulations.
  • Perform risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Conduct regular laboratory non-chemical inventory.
  • Create Purchase Requisition for Chemical Services Related items.
  • Perform other related work as required or assigned.
