The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen to ensure efficient food preparation, proper food handling, and compliance with company standards. The position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and knowledge of kitchen operations and food costing.
Key responsibilities include:
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Monitor food preparation, cooking, and presentation to maintain quality and consistency.
Assist in planning, organizing, and monitoring kitchen workflow during operations.
Check inventory levels of ingredients, supplies, and kitchen equipment, and coordinate replenishment when needed.
Monitor food portions, wastage, and proper use of ingredients to help control costs.
Prepare and review food costing to ensure menu items and kitchen expenses are properly monitored.
Train, guide, and evaluate kitchen staff to improve performance and productivity.
Report kitchen concerns, staff issues, inventory discrepancies, and operational problems to management.
Assist in implementing company policies, procedures, and standards within the kitchen area.
Ensure timely preparation and serving of food orders according to company standards.
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
Must have experience as a Kitchen Supervisor, Cook, Head Cook, or similar position.
Must be knowledgeable in kitchen operations, food preparation, food handling, and kitchen safety standards.
Knows how to prepare and analyze food costing.
Have strong leadership and people management skills.
Organized, responsible, and able to work under pressure.
Must be able to monitor inventory, control wastage, and maintain proper portioning.
Must have good communication and coordination skills.
Can work on shifting schedules, weekends, and holidays if needed.
Reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining food quality and cleanliness standards.
