John Clements Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Database Administrator/SQL Developer in Metro Manila. You will configure, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases across development, testing, and QA environments, ensuring data integrity and availability.
You will write efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and views, assist with security, backups, performance tuning, and collaborate with developers and QA to deliver reliable database solutions.
Assist in configuring and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases for development, testing, and quality assurance environments.
Perform routine database maintenance, including backups, restores, upgrades, and basic performance tuning.
Support database security by managing user accounts, roles, and permissions.
Monitor database performance and health, escalating issues when necessary.
Assist development and QA teams with database-related troubleshooting and support.
Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries for reporting, data extraction, and application support.
Work closely with application developers to implement and maintain database functionality.
Participate in database design discussions and recommend improvements where appropriate.
Support functional, integration, and performance testing activities involving database components.
Help identify defects, data inconsistencies, and potential risks affecting application quality.
Assist in resolving database-related issues and escalate complex problems to senior team members.
Ensure database changes are properly tested before deployment.
Maintain documentation for database configurations, scripts, and operational procedures.
Follow established development standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.
Keep technical documentation up to date for future reference and knowledge sharing.
Provide assistance with SQL Server and Oracle database setup and troubleshooting.
Share knowledge and follow database development best practices within the team.
Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and senior database administrators to deliver reliable database solutions.
Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle Database.
Strong SQL development skills using Microsoft T-SQL or Oracle PL/SQL.
Experience writing stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers.
Understanding of database design principles and normalization.
Familiarity with SQL query optimization and performance tuning.
Basic understanding of database security, backup, and recovery processes.
Experience using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is an advantage.
Exposure to query execution plans and troubleshooting database performance is a plus.
3-5 years of experience in SQL development or database administration.
Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle databases.
Exposure to supporting transactional database systems in production environments.
Experience working with medium-sized databases is preferred.
Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is an advantage but not required.
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
Familiarity with database deployment and version control practices.
Basic understanding of cloud database services (AWS or Azure).
Relevant Microsoft, Oracle, AWS, or Azure certifications are a plus but not required.
