Job summary

Lancaster Technology and Development Corporation is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to design, implement, and maintain LTDC’s enterprise databases for government and corporate clients. You will ensure security, availability, and performance, lead database initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The role requires 5+ years in database administration, strong RDBMS expertise, and proficiency in scripting for automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 5+ years of database administration and support experience.
• Strong expertise in at least one major RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and optimize enterprise databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance tuning of production databases.
• Implement and monitor backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Design and enforce database security policies, including user access and role management.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolve escalated database issues.
• Collaborate with application developers, system engineers, and project teams to support deployments and integrations.
• Document database architectures, procedures, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with LTDC’s IT governance and cybersecurity standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support when required.

The Senior Database Administrator (SDBA) is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of LTDC’s enterprise-grade databases supporting government and corporate clients. This role ensures database systems are secure, highly available, and optimized for performance. SDBA handles complex issues, leads database-related initiatives, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and optimize enterprise databases (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Yuga byte DB).
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance tuning of production databases.
• Implement and monitor backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Design and enforce database security policies, including user access and role management.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolve escalated database issues.
• Collaborate with application developers, system engineers, and project teams to support deployments and integrations.
• Document database architectures, procedures, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with LTDC’s IT governance and cybersecurity standards.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with database replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
• Knowledge of scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management).
• Ability to lead database support initiatives and advise project teams.
