Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist with the development, maintenance and optimization of several SQL Server databases that support highly available enterprise software applications
- Modify existing software to add enhancements, improve performance, and continuously improve our user experience
- Work on multiple databases to troubleshoot databases and related apps
- Execute SQL changes safely on live databases following best practices to minimize disruption, with clear rollback and recovery procedures
- Develop testing and implementation strategy, conduct appropriate functional and performance testing to identify and resolve process bottlenecks
- Commit quality code, reliably and on time to help the team achieve roadmap goals and customer commitment
- Follow Agile practices in daily and weekly work and be a reliable team member
- Provide timely feedback on designs and code changesets and share technical insights, learnings, and best practices with the team
- Accurately estimate work and proactively provide updates on status, communicating adjustments to estimates as new information arises to ensure appropriate expectations
- Embrace and consistently apply best practices, coding standards, and patterns for development and deployment of code
- Investigate alerts or support requests related to possible errors or issues within the proprietary platform and address them in a timely manner in accordance with technology platform SLAs
- Provide analytical support and technical advice during the conceptualization, development, and implementation phases
- Identify and resolve problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback
- Work within a fast‑paced environment
- Evaluate code to ensure validity, HIPAA compliance, secure coding practices, and compatibility
- Review requirements with internal customers for software system design and maintenance
- Use, protect and disclose patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with HIPAA standards, limiting viewing of PHI to the absolute minimum necessary to perform assigned duties and reporting any security or HIPAA violations to the HIPAA Officers in a timely fashion
- Prepare technical design document & data dictionary as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer or Information Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics or similar
- 6+ years of database and software development experience
- Expertise in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and indexes
- Highly analytical and detail‑oriented with extensive familiarity with database management principles
- A solid background in writing secure, understandable, testable, and efficient code
- Extensive experience in tuning queries for optimal performance
- Familiarity with relevant tools and technologies, with a drive to stay up to date with ongoing changes and advancements
- Clear communication around technical concepts and ideas and the ability to collaborate with engineering and other parts of the organization
- Solid understanding of T‑SQL programming
- Proficient in MS SQL Server 2012 or later
- Experience with C# is a plus
- Knowledgeable with change management processes, secure coding methodologies, and test plans (unit, regression, load)
- Ability to multi‑task with several complex and demanding projects
- Healthcare experience preferred
