Job summary

SAMS Greens & Grains PTE LTD is seeking a dedicated Junior Chef to join our culinary team at Raffles Place. You will support kitchen operations, prepare and cook dishes, and assist in mise en place and plating to ensure quality and consistency.

Candidates should have culinary training or relevant hospitality experience, a passion for cooking, and strong teamwork skills. Flexibility for varied shifts and a positive, proactive attitude are required.

Qualifications

• Culinary qualification or relevant hospitality training from a recognised institution, or equivalent practical experience.
• Passion for cooking and genuine enthusiasm for the culinary arts.
• Strong attention to detail with commitment to maintaining high food quality and presentation standards.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and health regulations.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment during peak service times.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills with ability to take direction and feedback positively.
• Flexibility to work various shift patterns, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
• Basic knife skills and familiarity with kitchen equipment and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards
• Assist in mise en place activities, including ingredient preparation, chopping, dicing and portioning
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen station, equipment and storage areas in compliance with health and safety standards
• Support senior chef in food preparation and cooking during service periods
• Follow all food safety protocols and maintain high standards of food hygiene
• Monitor stock levels and report requirements for ingredient replenishment
• Assist with plating and presentation of dishes to maintain consistent quality
• Contribute to the development of new menu items and special dishes under guidance
• Communicate effectively with kitchen team members to ensure smooth service operations
