About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Accountant to join our growing team. In this role, you will support the day-to-day finance operations by managing accounts payable, assisting with payroll, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards and tax regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable, including accurate invoice processing, timely supplier payments, account reconciliations, and responding to supplier and internal finance queries.
- Prepare payroll in accordance with Australian Fair Work legislation and statutory requirements, subject to review.
- Perform daily bank and credit card reconciliations, ensuring transactions are accurately coded, including GST allocations.
- Review, code, and manage supplier bills and receipts using Dext before exporting them to Xero.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and supporting financial reporting.
- Record and reconcile accruals, prepayments, and WorkCover journals to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in the preparation and lodgement of BAS, IAS, and Superannuation obligations.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and other stakeholders as required.
- Ensure all financial reporting and payment deadlines are met accurately and on time.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
- Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Finance team as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Accounting Technology, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of Australian accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of Australian accounting standards, GST, and payroll compliance.
- Experience using Xero is required.Dext and Employment Hero is advantageous but not essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn new systems and processes.
