• Experience with Australian accounting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tax returns (individual, sole trader, company, trust, SMSF).
• Prepare financial statements, BAS, IAS, and PAYG for clients.
• Liaise with accountants and respond to client queries.
• Draft client emails and identify issues or opportunities for improvement.
• Support research and interpretation of Australian Tax Legislation.
• Participate in team meetings and assist with special projects.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications

• Secondary education required
• Relevant tertiary degree
• Interest in studying Chartered Accountant (CA)

Experience

• 1-2 years' experience in Australian accounting
• Adept at learning new IT programs
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Experience with the Xero App Suite highly regarded but not essential

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Accounting Services

• Preparation of all types of tax returns, including individual, sole trader, company, trust, and SMSF returns
• Preparation of financial statements, BAS, IAS, and PAYG for all client types
• Liaising directly with accountants to assist with responding to client queries
• Drafting client emails as required
• Identifying potential issues or opportunities in day-to-day work and raising these with the Team Leader
• Assisting with research and interpretation of Australian Tax Legislation

Business Development

• Participating in and contributing to team meetings
• Assisting accountants and the Team Leader with special assignments or projects as requested
• Contributing to process improvements and supporting their implementation
