Job summary

You will prep ingredients, assist with sushi and other dishes, uphold food safety standards, and support the kitchen during peak service. The ideal candidate has culinary training or relevant Japanese cuisine experience and a strong team spirit.

Qualifications

• Culinary training or relevant experience in Japanese cuisine preparation is highly desirable.
• Basic knowledge of Japanese cooking techniques, ingredients and preparation methods.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen while keeping attention to detail.
• Strong commitment to food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with kitchen staff.
• Physical stamina to work long hours in a standing position.
• Punctuality and reliability with a positive attitude toward learning and development.
• Attention to presentation and quality in all food preparation tasks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook Japanese dishes under supervision, following established recipes and standards.
• Assist in ingredient preparation including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the Japanese kitchen station and sanitize equipment.
• Support execution of Japanese cooking techniques including grilling, steaming, frying and sushi assembly.
• Monitor food quality and presentation to meet high Vikings Group of Companies standards.
• Assist with inventory management and stock rotation in the Japanese kitchen.
• Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure smooth service during peak periods.
• Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols and health regulations.
