JOB SUMMARY:
The Interment Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all interment and disinterment activities within the memorial park. The role ensures that burial services are conducted efficiently, safely, respectfully, and in accordance with company policies, operational standards, and regulatory requirements.
The Interment Supervisor coordinates with park operations staff, contractors, funeral service providers, and families to ensure that burial sites are properly prepared, interment procedures are followed, and services are carried out with dignity and professionalism.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. Interment Operations Management
- Supervise all scheduled interment and disinterment activities within the park.
- Ensure burial sites, vaults, and graves are properly prepared prior to scheduled services.
- Verify lot locations and burial records before interment.
- Monitor the proper placement of caskets or urns during burial services.
2. Coordination of Interment Schedule
- Coordinate with the park administration regarding daily interment schedules.
- Relay interment schedules to operations staff, contractors, and security personnel.
- Ensure all required preparations are completed prior to the arrival of the funeral procession.
3. Site Preparation and Inspection
- Conduct pre-interment inspections of burial sites.
- Ensure vaults are properly opened and ready for burial.
- Verify that water or debris inside vaults are removed before the service.
- Ensure surrounding areas are safe, clean, and properly arranged for the ceremony.
4. Supervision of Contractors and Support Staff
- Supervise contractors responsible for excavation, vault opening, and closing.
- Ensure workers follow safety procedures and park operational standards.
- Coordinate with Grounds Maintenance and Facilities teams for site preparation.
5. Post-Interment Site Restoration
- Ensure graves are properly closed and secured after burial services.
- Supervise restoration of the burial site, including soil leveling and site cleaning.
- Ensure markers or temporary identification tags are properly installed.
6. Exhumation and Remains Handling
- Supervise disinterment or exhumation activities in compliance with company procedures and legal requirements.
- Ensure proper handling, documentation, and transfer of remains.
7. Family and Client Assistance
- Assist families and funeral service providers during burial services.
- Ensure that services are conducted respectfully and smoothly.
- Address client concerns and coordinate special requests when necessary.
8. Compliance and Safety
- Ensure all interment and disinterment procedures comply with company policies and government regulations.
- Implement safety measures for workers, contractors, and visitors during burial operations.
9. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of interments, disinterment, and lot usage.
- Prepare operational reports and submit them to park management.
- Report incidents, irregularities, or operational concerns promptly.
