Job summary

Ingenious Solutions Inc. in the Philippines seeks an experienced inpatient medical coder to apply ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding to hospital records. You will review charts, determine principal diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate sequencing.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a medical field, professional coder certification (CIC or CCS), and 2–3 years inpatient coding experience. You will work with EPIC and other EMR systems, adhere to official guidelines, and support

Responsibilities

• Review provider documentation to determine principal diagnosis, comorbidities, and procedures.
• Assign POA value for inpatient diagnoses as a supplement for ICD-10 CM coding.
• Determine DRG and perform coding compliance reviews per official guidelines.

Job description

Provide coding services on inpatient medical records using the latest appropriate International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding systems. Thoroughly review medical records including charts and procedures and assign diagnostic and procedural codes based on review results.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for abstracting, coding, and sequencing diagnoses, medical/surgical procedures, and treatment modalities according to appropriate classification system [International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10 CM and PCS), American Medical Association Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding system, and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS)] for inpatient encounters, meeting productivity and quality measures daily
• Review appropriate provider documentation to determine principal diagnosis, co-morbidities and complications, secondary conditions, and surgical procedures
• Assign Present on Admission (POA) value for inpatient diagnoses as a supplement for ICD-10 CM coding.
• Assign correct diagnostic related grouping (DRG) and perform coding compliance reviews. Follow official coding guidelines to review and analyze health records.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical or Allied Medical courses or equivalent in relevant clinical work experience.
• Certified Coder under AAPC (CIC) or AHIMA (CCS)
• Experience with EPIC and other EMR and Coding Platforms
