Overview
The housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, orderliness, and a hygienic environment in assigned areas. This includes cleaning, organizing, and ensuring the facility meets established health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
- Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
- Sanitize bathrooms, kitchens, and other high-touch areas.
Laundry and Linen Care:
- Wash, fold, and iron linens and clothing as needed.
- Replace bed linens and towels.
Inventory Management:
- Replenish toiletries, cleaning supplies, and other household items.
- Inform management of low stock or broken equipment.
Organization:
- Organize and tidy up rooms and storage spaces.
- Ensure proper arrangement of furniture and décor.
Safety and Reporting:
- Identify and report maintenance issues or safety hazards.
- Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required).
Experience
Prior experience in housekeeping, janitorial work, or a similar cleaning role
Skills and Abilities
- Attention to detail: Ability to notice and address areas requiring cleaning or maintenance.
- Time management: Effectively complete tasks within allocated time frames.
- Physical stamina: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Organization skills: Efficiently manage cleaning supplies and maintain orderly spaces.
- Communication skills: Ability to understand and follow instructions, and interact professionally with clients or supervisors.
Knowledge
- Familiarity with cleaning products, techniques, and equipment.
- Understanding of basic hygiene and safety standards.
