Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Social Work or related field.
  • Several years of experience managing HIV/AIDS or public health programs, including supervision of staff.
  • Experience working with underserved or at-risk communities.

Job description

Position Summary
The HIV Programs Manager leads the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Roots of Health's HIV/AIDS programs. Reporting to the HIV Programs Director, this role manages the HIV Coordinator/s and program team, ensures program quality and compliance, and works across teams and with external stakeholders to strengthen prevention, testing, treatment, and support services. The HIV Programs Manager also plays a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the organization's HIV-related work.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership
  • Lead, supervise, and support a team of HIV program coordinators, setting clear priorities and providing regular coaching and feedback.

  • Build team capacity through mentoring and, where needed, direct facilitation of training and HIV education sessions.

Program Design & Implementation
  • Develop and execute comprehensive HIV/AIDS programs aligned with organizational goals and public health guidelines.

  • Design and implement strategies to engage underserved and at-risk populations, addressing their specific needs and barriers to care.

  • Stay current with developments in HIV/AIDS research, treatment, and prevention to inform program planning and decision-making.

  • Collaborate with the other Roots of Health teams, and external partners to design and deliver effective prevention, testing, treatment, and support services.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to increase program visibility and impact.

  • Work with the Media Team to develop educational materials, campaigns, and advocacy efforts that raise awareness of HIV/AIDS issues.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
  • Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting to measure program outcomes and identify areas for improvement.

  • Monitor program activities against budgets, timelines, and performance targets.

  • Prepare and present regular program reports to senior management and funders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

Compliance
  • Ensure all program activities comply with relevant regulations, protocols, and ethical standards.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Social Work, or a related field (advanced degree an advantage).

  • Several years of experience managing HIV/AIDS or public health programs, including experience supervising staff.

  • Demonstrated experience working with underserved or at-risk communities.

Skills & Attributes
  • Strong knowledge of current HIV/AIDS research, treatment, and prevention strategies.

  • Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with government agencies, healthcare providers, and community partners.

  • Skilled in program monitoring and evaluation, including data-driven reporting to funders and leadership.

  • Excellent facilitation and training skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior management and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, budgets, and timelines across a team.

  • Commitment to stigma reduction and culturally sensitive, rights-based approaches to HIV care.
