About the Role
Keep a heavy-haul truck fleet on the road in Papua New Guinea, working full-time from your home in the Philippines.
The fleet runs a fuel convoy on unsealed roads in a remote area: around 35 Sinotruk HOWO prime movers, 30 Titan trailers, plus support vehicles and service vehicles, and it is still growing. Out there, a late part or a wrong part keeps a truck off the road for weeks. Your job is to make sure the right part reaches the right workshop at the right time, and that every truck and trailer on the register is accounted for.
What you will do
Parts and purchasing
- Identify parts from Sinotruk, Titan and other catalogues using part numbers and exploded diagrams, working from mechanics' requests, photos and VINs
- Get quotes, compare price, lead time and genuine versus aftermarket, and raise purchase orders for approval
- Source from dealers and suppliers in China, Australia (Brisbane) and PNG (Port Moresby)
- Expedite urgent breakdown parts and keep the workshop updated on arrival dates
Freight and stock
- Arrange sea and air freight to Tabubil and Kiunga: consolidating orders, briefing forwarders, preparing customs paperwork and tracking deliveries
- Follow every order from supplier to workshop shelf, and chase short deliveries and damaged goods
- Maintain the parts inventory: stock list, bin locations, minimum, maximum and reorder levels, and a recommended spares holding for each model
- Record parts used against each truck, and run stocktakes with the on-site storeman
Fleet records
- Maintain the fleet register: fleet number, VIN, engine number, registration, registration and insurance expiry, safety sticker expiry, asset codes and status
- Flag registration, insurance, safety inspection and fire extinguisher expiries at least 30 days ahead
- Track services due by kilometres and engine hours, and book them with the workshop
- Review daily prestart checks in ChekRite, turn defects into work orders and parts requests, and follow them to close-out
- Manage warranty claims, and match supplier invoices to purchase orders and deliveries
Reporting
- Daily: open orders and expected arrivals, trucks waiting on parts, spend by truck, upcoming expiries and stock-outs
- Monthly: parts cost per truck and repeat failures, with recommendations
Systems you'll use: Microsoft 365 (advanced Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive), ChekRite, supplier portals and freight tracking, and WhatsApp and WeChat for suppliers.
