Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams delivering scalable, secure health-tech solutions. You will drive AI-enabled engineering practices and build a high-performing organization across global locations.

The role partners with Product, Operations and Business leaders to align technology with strategic objectives, ensure reliable delivery, and foster an inclusive, collaborative culture while guiding engineering talent

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, Engineering or related field
• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience
• 6+ years of leadership experience managing software engineering organizations at Manager or Director level
• 5+ years of delivering enterprise technology products in large-scale production environments
• 5+ years of partnering with Product leadership to deliver strategic initiatives
• 3+ years of experience presenting to and managing executive stakeholders
• 3+ years of leading or delivering AI initiatives
• Solid experience leading globally distributed engineering teams
• Experience managing multiple technical assets, programs, or product portfolios

Responsabilités

• Lead and oversee multiple software engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale products and platforms
• Own end-to-end software delivery across assets, services, and initiatives
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business priorities
• Establish engineering roadmaps, delivery plans, and operational strategies
• Balance innovation, delivery throughput, platform stability, and operational excellence
• Adapt priorities to address business, technical, and operational challenges
• Provide technical leadership across software engineering, system design, and modern practices
• Drive engineering excellence through governance, standards, and quality practices
• Lead AI-driven engineering initiatives and data-driven practices
• Design and monitor engineering operational metrics and performance indicators
• Recruit, coach, and develop high-performing engineering teams
• Collaborate with Product, Operations, and Business stakeholders
