Job Summary
The General Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting financial accounting activities, month-end close processes and financial reporting accuracy across the organization.
Operating within a Global Business Services environment, this role partners with U.S.-based finance teams to maintain strong internal controls, ensure compliance with accounting standards and drive operational excellence through efficient accounting processes.
What you'll do
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and account roll-forward schedules
- Analyze balance sheet and general ledger accounts to maintain accounting accuracy and integrity
- Conduct budget versus actual variance analysis and identify significant trends or discrepancies
- Monitor financial activity and communicate unusual transactions or prior period adjustments to leadership
- Assist with financial statement audits by preparing audit schedules, supporting documentation and account analyses
- Collaborate with U.S.-based business units and finance teams on monthly accruals and upcoming financial transactions
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies and accounting procedures
- Serve as a subject matter resource for financial systems and support system-related process improvements
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and support standardization initiatives
- Provide support for special projects and cross-functional finance activities as needed
- Partner with accounting team members to ensure continuity of operations and knowledge sharing
Requirements
Experience
- 2 to 4 years of experience in general accounting required
- Knowledge of financial statement preparation and account reconciliation required
- Knowledge of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) preferred
- Experience supporting month-end close activities preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required
- Experience with Workday Financial Management preferred
- Experience with BlackLine financial close and reconciliation software preferred
- Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferred
- Experience supporting external or internal audits preferred
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
Certifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred
