Job summary

Holiday Plaza Hotel is seeking a General Accountant to join our Finance team in Cebu City, Cebu. The position is full-time and focuses on accurate recording, reporting, and analysis of financial transactions to support management decisions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, 2–3 years of general accounting experience, and proficiency in Excel and accounting software. CPA or equivalent is desirable, and knowledge of Philippine tax regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record and post financial transactions including AP/AR, payroll, and general journal entries.
• Prepare and reconcile monthly bank, credit card, and GL statements.
• Process AP invoices and support AR collections.
• Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Perform month-end and year-end closing activities including accruals and prepayments.
• Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with accounting standards.
• Support budgeting and variance analysis.

About the role

Holiday Plaza Hotel is seeking a General Accountant to join our Finance team on a full-time basis in Cebu City, Cebu. This role is fundamental to our financial operations, ensuring accurate recording, reporting, and analysis of our hotel's financial transactions. As General Accountant, you will play a vital part in maintaining the integrity of our financial records and supporting management decision-making through reliable financial reporting and analysis.

What you'll be doing

• Recording and posting financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general journal entries into the accounting system
• Preparing and reconciling monthly bank statements, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts
• Processing accounts payable invoices and supporting accounts receivable collections
• Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
• Performing month-end and year-end closing procedures, including accruals, prepayments, and adjusting entries
• Maintaining accurate and organised financial records and documentation in compliance with accounting standards
• Supporting the preparation of budgets and assisting in variance analysis
• Assisting with tax compliance and ensuring timely submission of required financial reports to regulatory authorities
• Collaborating with other departments to gather necessary financial information and clarify transaction details
• Identifying and reporting discrepancies or irregularities in financial data

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent is highly desirable
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in general accounting or financial accounting roles
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with hospitality accounting systems is advantageous
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and practices (GAAP or IFRS)
• Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Knowledge of Philippine tax regulations and accounting requirements is preferred
• Demonstrated integrity and commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct
