As we continue to grow across Fintech, Electronic Money Issuance, and Remittance, we are looking for a Fraud Analyst to join our Financial Crime Unit (FCU) and help strengthen our fraud prevention and financial crime risk management capabilities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Fraud Analyst is responsible for monitoring and investigating potentially fraudulent transactions and accounts, identifying emerging fraud patterns, and supporting the implementation of effective fraud prevention measures.
The role involves analyzing transaction data, conducting investigations, preparing reports, developing monitoring tools, and working closely with Compliance, Risk, and Legal teams to address fraud and financial crime risks.
Reports to: Head / Team Leader, Financial Crime Unit (FCU)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and validate flagged transactions and accounts, and
- Investigate suspected and confirmed fraudulent activities by analyzing transaction data, customer behavior, and fraud patterns.
- Assess financial impact and recommend appropriate preventive or corrective actions.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and well-documented fraud investigation reports for internal decision-making, compliance requirements, and potential legal proceedings.
- Develop and maintain monitoring reports, detection tools, and alerts to identify suspicious or fraudulent activities across Starpay’s products and services.
- Analyze emerging fraud trends, cybercrime tactics, and new fraud schemes, and recommend appropriate countermeasures.
- Test and evaluate fraud prevention technologies, systems, and processes.
- Support the design and implementation of product features and system enhancements that improve fraud detection and prevention.
- Conduct data analysis and simulations to assess fraud risks and the effectiveness of proposed controls.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and Legal teams in handling confirmed fraud and criminal activity, including providing supporting evidence when required.
- Support Anti-Money Laundering (AML) reporting and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Identify process vulnerabilities and fraud risks related to campaigns, promotions, new products, and business initiatives.
- Recommend improvements to fraud monitoring processes, controls, and systems.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive customer and company information.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Highly data-literate with an investigative and detail-oriented mindset.
- Familiarity with Python is an advantage; experience with other programming languages, data analysis, or reporting tools is also a plus.
- Experience in Fraud Analytics, Risk Analytics, Fraud Investigation, AML, or Financial Crime is highly desirable.
- Experience in Fintech, E-Commerce, Banking, Credit, Payments, or Remittance industries is an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly Compliance, Risk, Legal, Product, and Technology.
- Strong sense of integrity, accountability, and responsibility when handling confidential information.
