Job Description
A Food Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service in food service establishments, including restaurants, cafeterias, and catering events. They assist with food preparation, serving, and ensuring a clean and organized environment for guests. They are also tasked with ensuring the overall guest experience is positive by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serving Food and Beverages: Serve food and beverages to customers in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
- Food Preparation Assistance: Help with food preparation as needed, ensuring that the presentation and quality meet company standards.
- Customer Service: Greet guests, take orders, answer questions about the menu, and ensure guests' needs are met promptly.
- Cleaning and Organizing: Maintain cleanliness in dining areas, kitchens, and food preparation areas. This includes wiping tables, sanitizing surfaces, and restocking supplies.
- Food Safety Compliance: Follow proper food safety and sanitation protocols, including handling food items, cleaning, and storing food properly.
- Maintaining Inventory: Keep track of food stock, report shortages or damage, and assist in inventory management.
- Handling Cash and Payments: Process customer payments, handle cash, credit cards, or other payment methods securely.
- Team Collaboration: Work with kitchen and service staff to ensure efficient service and a smooth workflow.
- Adherence to Company Policies: Follow the policies and procedures of the establishment, including dress code, safety regulations, and customer service expectations.
- Educational and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: While a formal education is not always required, a high school diploma is generally preferred.
- Previous Experience: Experience in the food service industry is often preferred but not required, especially for entry-level positions.
- Food Safety Certification: Depending on the location, certification in food safety (e.g., ServSafe) may be required.
