Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 1 year as a Controller
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Experience collaborating with executive leaders or a fractional CFO
• Proficient in QuickBooks (Online/Desktop) and advanced Excel (modeling, pivot tables)
• Experience with multi-currency, complex inventory or industry-specific accounting is preferred
• Analytical thinker with process-improvement mindset and self-management skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA or active candidate is a strong plus

We are seeking a strategic, highly skilled Financial Controller to oversee high-level accounting operations and collaborate directly with our Chief Financial Officer (CPA). The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between day-to-day bookkeeping and executive financial strategy, ensuring GAAP compliance, driving accurate financial reporting, and managing internal controls in a dynamic, flexible capacity.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, reviewing reconciliations and journal entries prepared by the accounting team
• Partner with the fractional/fractional-adjacent CFO (CPA) to prepare, review, and present accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
• Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls and standardized accounting procedures
• Manage high-level cash flow management, revenue recognition, and complex financial analysis
• Assist the CFO with annual budgeting, variance analysis, and multi-year financial forecasting
• Oversee sales tax filings, payroll tax compliance, and lead preparation for external audit or tax reviews
• Audit general ledger activity to ensure strict compliance with US GAAP
• Optimize financial software systems, accounting workflows, and reporting automation

About you

• Proven experience (5+ years) and at least 1 year as Controller
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and advanced financial reporting standards
• Demonstrated experience collaborating successfully with executive leaders or fractional CFOs
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (Online/Desktop) and advanced Microsoft Excel (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas)
• Deep experience with multi-currency, complex inventory, or specialized industry accounting (preferred)
• Outstanding analytical thinking, process improvement mindset, and self-management skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or active candidate is a strong plus)
