Job summary

Whalet, an MAS-licensed Major Payment Institution, seeks a Finance Director to own the Singapore entity's finance function and support international expansion. The role is hands-on, bridging regulatory obligations, financial operations, and investor readiness as capital raises approach.

You will oversee multi-currency treasury, month-end close, and external audits while building scalable financial controls and a robust investor data room for due diligence.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting/Finance with CA/CPA/ACCA or equivalent.
• 7–10+ years of progressive finance leadership in MAS-regulated entities preferred.
• Strong MAS Act knowledge and multi-currency FX settlement experience preferred.
• Experience in financial modelling, unit economics, and investor due diligence.
• Fluent English and Mandarin; Singapore-based with cross-border collaboration.

Responsibilities

About the role

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Finance Director will own the complete finance function for the Singapore entity and international expansion. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role bridging regulatory compliance (MAS/HKMA/FinCEN), financial operations, and investor readiness as we prepare for capital raise.

Key responsibilities

• Own all financial regulatory obligations across MAS, HKMA, and FinCEN entities, including but not limited to capital adequacy monitoring, regulatory returns, and daily e‑money safeguarding trust account reconciliation.
• Build and oversee accounting, tax, multi‑currency treasury, month‑end close, and external audit processes from the ground up. Implement scalable, audit‑ready financial controls.
• Develop and maintain the company's financial model (unit economics, corridor revenue, runway). Build the investor data room and support the CEO through due diligence and pitch cycles.
• Partner with the CEO on capital allocation, trade settlement pricing strategy, and banking relationship management.

About you

• Degree in Accounting/Finance with CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification.
• 7–10+ years of progressive finance leadership, ideally within an MAS‑regulated entity (Payment Institution, Digital Bank, or Fintech).
• Strong knowledge of MAS Payment Services Act obligations, capital adequacy, and e‑money safeguarding rules. Multi‑currency/FX settlement knowledge preferred.
• Proven capability in financial modelling, unit economics analysis, and investor due diligence support.
• Singapore‑based with business fluency in English and Mandarin to collaborate effectively across local and Greater China stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial, execution‑focused, and comfortable building within ambiguity.
