Job description

TECHNICAL MANAGER
Brand: XPENG
Job Summary

We are looking for a highly knowledgeable Technical Manager to serve as the technical authority for the dealership’s automotive and EV operations. The role requires strong expertise in vehicle systems, EV technology, diagnostics, troubleshooting, technical standards, and after-sales support.

The Technical Manager will provide technical expertise for complex vehicle concerns, investigate technical issues, coordinate with vehicle manufacturers and technical teams, and ensure technical information is properly assessed and applied across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for complex automotive and EV-related concerns within the dealership.
  • Provide technical assessment and recommendations for electrical, electronic, mechanical, software, battery, charging, and vehicle control system concerns.
  • Analyze complex or unusual vehicle issues and determine root causes and appropriate technical solutions.
  • Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, diagnostic reports, service bulletins, manufacturer guidelines, and other technical documentation.
  • Use diagnostic equipment and vehicle diagnostic software to identify and resolve technical concerns.
  • Coordinate with vehicle manufacturers, principals, factory technical teams, and engineering teams on complex or unresolved technical cases.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for escalated vehicle concerns requiring advanced technical investigation.
  • Evaluate technical updates, software updates, recalls, service campaigns, and new EV technologies and communicate their implications to relevant teams.
  • Support the development and improvement of technical procedures, diagnostic approaches, inspection standards, and after-sales processes.
  • Provide technical recommendations to management regarding vehicle issues, equipment, tools, charging systems, and other automotive technical requirements.
  • Assist in investigations involving recurring vehicle problems, customer complaints, quality concerns, and potential product defects.
  • Review technical findings and reports to ensure conclusions and recommendations are technically sound.
  • Support warranty and technical claim assessments through technical findings and documentation.
  • Conduct technical briefings and knowledge-sharing sessions for dealership personnel on new vehicle technologies, systems, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on developments in EV technology, battery systems, charging technology, automotive electronics, diagnostics, and vehicle software.
  • Represent the dealership in technical discussions, product training, manufacturer meetings, and technical assessments when required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant automotive technical experience.
  • Experience with EVs, new-energy vehicles, or automotive electrification is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of modern vehicle systems, particularly EV systems and automotive electronics.
  • Strong knowledge of EV battery systems, Battery Management Systems (BMS), electric motors, power electronics, charging systems, ECU/vehicle control systems, and automotive electrical systems.
  • Experience in advanced vehicle diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, diagnostic data, technical manuals, service information, and manufacturer technical documentation.
  • Experience working with automotive manufacturers, principals, distributors, dealerships, or factory technical support teams is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working with new and emerging automotive technologies.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is more than a technician or technician supervisor. They should have a deep understanding of modern automotive systems and be capable of independently investigating complex technical problems, identifying root causes, interpreting manufacturer-level technical information, and providing technically sound recommendations.

Candidates with experience in an EV manufacturer, automotive distributor, dealership, automotive engineering team, technical support team, or vehicle principal will have a strong advantage.
