Job summary

Austal Philippines is seeking an Environmental Officer (PCO) to ensure the yard stays compliant with environmental obligations, store hazardous materials safely, and segregate waste. The role includes leading audits, EMS compliance, and regulatory updates while engaging with stakeholders and emergency responders.

The candidate will drive spill prevention, implement education programs, and pursue environmental improvements in a growing shipyard environment.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience as PCO/Environmental officer or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of DENR, PEZA and other government agency regulatory requirements.
• Exhibit professionalism in all dealings with stakeholders.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and implement spill response team.
• Good time-management, problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Understands environmental regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Implement, execute, report, and continually improve the HSE internal audit and workplace inspection program, Hazardous Materials and waste management.
• Compliance to Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Regulatory compliance including provision of changes/updates of issuances/orders and its business impact.
• HSE Management System audits.
• QMS Compliance.
• Information, education, and communication program including hazard identification, assessment, and control implementation.
• Implement, execute, report, and continually improve Spill Prevention and Management, conduct spill drill, etc.
• Introduce improvement initiatives related to Environment.
