Job summary

Austal Philippines is seeking a Safety Officer to ensure shipyard activities comply with HSE procedures and legal requirements. You will perform inspections, approve work permits, and conduct audits while coordinating with supervisors, contractors, and workers.

The role emphasizes hazard identification, incident prevention, and proactive safety management, including toolbox talks and internal trainings. DOLE-aligned certifications are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 40-hour BOSH training as prescribed by DOLE.
• Minimum 3 years in a safety-related role in industrial settings.
• Identify basic hazards and assist in safety protocol implementation.
• Calm, professional demeanor for incident response.
• Knowledge of emergency response procedures and coordination with responders.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to promote safety.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint for reporting.
• Ability to conduct toolbox talks and basic safety orientations.
• Experience in internal safety trainings such as Working at Heights and Confined Space.
• First Aider certification completed through a DOLE-accredited provider.
• Knowledge of Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control (HIRAC).

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections, work permit approvals, audits, and observations.
• Identify unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with supervisors, contractors, and workers on safety improvements.
• Promote safety awareness through toolbox talks and orientations.
• Support internal safety trainings such as Working at Heights, Confined Space, and Hot Works.
