About the role
This is an engineering leadership position in a food manufacturing plant, responsible for plant engineering and maintenance management, production line optimization, process engineering, and team leadership. The role requires direct oversight of continuous production lines, steam utility networks, deep frying units, and high-speed primary/secondary packaging operations, with significant responsibility for environmental compliance, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Secondary Roles & Responsibilities
- EHS Oversight: Direct site safety policies, hazard assessments, and fire protection system upkeep in coordination with the Safety Officer.
- Vendor & Contractor Management: Supervise third-party technical vendors, machinery OEMs, and civil contractors during plant upgrades or overhauls.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead energy efficiency projects (e.g., heat recovery systems on fryers and steam traps) to reduce thermal and electrical consumption per ton of noodles produced.
- Audit Readiness: Ensure facilities and equipment documentation pass customer audits, HALAL certifications, and food safety standard checks (FSSC 22000 / BRCGS).
DENR Environmental Compliance & Mandatory Statutory Submissions
- Key DENR Reports to Submit
- Semi-Annual Compliance Monitoring Report (CMR)
- Hazardous Waste Generator Reporting
- Environmental Permits & Regulatory Maintenance
- Oversee and maintain validity for critical plant permits:
- Wastewater Discharge Permit (DP) under RA 9275 (Philippine Clean Water Act).
- Permit to Operate (PTO) for Air Pollution Source and Control Installations (e.g., steam boilers, generator sets, oil frying exhaust scrubbers) under RA 8749 (Philippine Clean Air Act).
- Hazardous Waste Generator ID registration and updates under RA 6969.
- PCO Accreditation Renewal (DAO 20 4-02).
- Supervise the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to meet strict DENR effluent parameters prior to discharge into local drainage or water bodies.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Registered / Licensed Professional Engineer (PECE, PME, or REE preferred).
- Accredited Pollution Control Officer (PCO) by the DENR-EMB (or qualified to complete accreditation within 3 months of hire).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-8 years of engineering experience in a food manufacturing plant, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Direct experience with continuous production lines, steam utility networks, deep frying units, and high-speed primary/secondary packaging.
- Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of Philippine environmental legislation (RA 9275, RA 8749, RA 6969, RA 9003, and PD 1586).
- Familiarity with PLC control systems, SCADA, pneumatics, hydraulics, and thermal fluid boilers.
- Hands-on knowledge of TPM, HACCP, GMP, and DOLE-OSHC regulations.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, budget management, technical problem-solving, and capability to interface with local government units (LGUs) and regulatory bodies.
