This role will focus primarily on general electrical estimating for U.S. contractors, with EV charger estimating as a secondary responsibility. The position starts at 20 hours per week, with the opportunity to grow into full-time based on workload, performance, and trust.
The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of hands‑on electrical estimating experience for U.S.-based contractors, a strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), and experience managing multiple active bids without sacrificing accuracy. Chicago-specific electrical requirements will be taught during onboarding.
This is a high-autonomy role for someone who can work independently, manage a live queue of approximately 15–20 active bids, identify scope gaps and risks, and help build a more organized estimating process from the ground up.
Review bid requests, electrical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to prepare accurate estimates.
Produce estimates for both commercial and residential electrical projects.
Manage approximately 15–20 active bids while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
Identify scope gaps, exclusions, missing information, and potential risks before bids are submitted.
Apply the National Electrical Code (NEC) when developing estimates.
Learn and apply Chicago‑specific electrical code requirements and local amendments during the onboarding process.

Help build and standardize the company's general electrical estimating process.
Document estimating procedures, pricing methods, and bid workflows to create a more consistent system.
Organize and maintain bid files, estimates, drawings, and supporting documentation.
Identify opportunities to improve estimating speed, accuracy, and consistency.
Research and evaluate estimating software and tools that can reduce manual work.
Explore AI‑assisted estimating tools and workflows where appropriate.
Prepare estimates for EV charger installation projects using the company's estimating platform.
Maintain accurate material pricing and update costs as market prices change.
Track labor hours, wages, equipment costs, and other project‑related expenses.
Adapt to the company's existing estimating tools and processes.
Use Google Workspace, including Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Chat, for communication and documentation.
Use the company's EV estimating and material management platform for applicable projects.
Maintain accurate bid records and status updates in Google Drive.
Keep estimate files organized so the internal team can easily review and act on them.
Communicate clearly regarding questions, missing information, scope concerns, and bid status.
3+ years of experience producing general electrical estimates for U.S.-based electrical contractors.
Experience estimating both commercial and residential electrical projects.
Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Ability to understand and apply local electrical code requirements and amendments.
Experience working with U.S.-based electrical or construction companies.
Comfortable reading and interpreting electrical drawings, plans, specifications, and scopes of work.
Experience managing multiple active bids simultaneously, ideally 15–20 bids at a time.
Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain clear bid documentation.
Comfortable working independently with minimal day‑to‑day supervision.
Able to identify problems, ask the right questions, and flag concerns before they affect a bid.
Familiarity with electrical estimating software or platforms.
Proficiency with Google Workspace, particularly Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Chat.
Must be available and reliably reachable during agreed U.S. Central working hours.
Must be dedicated to this role during working hours and cannot have conflicting clients or engagements.
