Job summary

Universal Robina Corporation in the Philippines is seeking a Safety and Environmental Officer to lead the establishment and continual improvement of EHS systems in accordance with GMP, ISO 9001:2015, HACCP, HALAL, and FSSC frameworks. The role includes risk assessment updates, regulatory liaison, and plant-wide safety oversight.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of any engineering course.
  • With at least one year of experience in managing and handling occupational safety, health and environment (EHS) processes in the food industry.
  • Knowledge in pollution control, risk and disaster management, emergency preparedness, and business continuity planning.
  • Aptitude in environmental and occupational laws and regulations.
  • Team-player, customer-centric, and innovative work attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Spearheads establishment, implementation and continual improvement of Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Initiates CARES risk assessments and keeps them up-to-date.
  • Acts as Liaison Officer between the plant and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitors operations to ensure compliance with health, safety and environment regulations.
  • Assists in accident/incident investigations and tracks corrective actions.
  • Validates 3rd party compliance with health, safety and environment requirements.
  • Monitors regulatory compliance and implements action plans for improvement.
  • Prepares and submits regulatory reports and reports mandated by the Company.
  • Ensures effective implementation of OSHE training plans.
  • Assists government representatives during plant visits.
  • Conducts fire and other emergency drills at the required frequency.
  • Ensures hazardous works are performed safely via routine workplace checks.
  • Leads monthly OSHE meetings and inspections.
  • Applies permit renewals as scheduled and as needed.

MUST BE:
  • Graduate of any engineering course

  • With at least one (1) year of experience in managing and handling occupational safety, health and environment process, in compliance with relevant management systems in the food industry, including but not limited to EHS Management Systems, Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO 9001:2015 (QMS), HACCP, HALAL and FSSC, is an advantage;

  • Knowledge in pollution control, risk and disaster management, emergency preparedness, and pandemic or epidemic business continuity plan, is an advantage;

  • Aptitude in environmental and occupational laws and regulations is an advantage;

  • Has a team-player, customer-centric, and innovative work attitude.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and AUTHORITIES
- Spearheads the establishment, implementation and continual improvement of Safety and Environmental Management Systems mandated by the Company.
- Initiates the completion of CARES (risk assessment)and ensures that the assessment is up-to-date.
- Acts as the Liaison Officer between the plant and regulatory agencies.
- Monitors the Plant's operations, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with health, safety and environment regulations.
- Assists in the conduct of accident/incident investigation, recommends corrective actions and monitors the implementation of plans.
- Validates 3rd Party compliance with the company's health, safety and environment requirements.
- Monitors the Plant's compliance with applicable legal and other requirements and tracks the implementation of action plans to improve regulatory compliance.
- Prepares and submits applicable regulatory reports and other reports mandated by the Company.
- Ensures the effective implementation of OSHE training plans.
- Assists government representatives during their visit in the plant.
