Job summary

Makati Shangri-La, Manila is seeking a dedicated Duty Engineer to maintain and operate hotel facilities in line with Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts standards. The role covers daily energy management, safety procedures, and coordinating engineering staff to support guest services and operations.

You should have at least five years in a similar role, a Technical College certificate in Mechanics or Electricity or equivalent, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Has at least 5 years experience in the same field.
• Has certificate from Technical College in Mechanics or Electricity or equivalent.
• Demonstrates awareness of OH&S policies and procedures, including first aid and fire emergencies.
• Communicates and writes with fluency in English (and local language).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate hotel equipment and areas according to Shangri-La standards.
• Check daily utilities readings and ensure operation is efficient.
• Ensure engineering staff follow standards and procedures.
• Conduct shift briefings to align on activities and requirements.
• Lead technicians to maintain machinery and record work processes.
• Oversee energy management for the Engineering Department.
• Demonstrate OH&S awareness and ensure safe procedures are followed by team.
• Analyse and monitor energy costs for the department.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

As a Duty Engineer, we rely you to:

• Ensurethat the Hotel equipment and areas are maintained and operated in accordance with Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts standard
• Check daily utilities readings and make sure operation is most efficient.
• Ensureall engineering employees follow the Engineering Standards and Procedures as issued from time to time.
• Conductshift briefings to ensure hotel activities and operational requirements are known.
• Managethe technicianto maintain all machinery equipment and record work process for the property.
• Responsible for the proper organization and functioning of the energy management function of the Engineering Department.
• Demonstrate awareness of OH&S policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within OH&S guidelines and ensure direct reports do the same.
• Analyseand monitorenergy costs and expenditures for the department.
• Ensurethat personal grooming and hygiene standards are being observed doing spot checks in the morning.
• Perform any other duties which may be assigned by the management from time to time.
