Job summary

Schneider Electric is seeking a Protection & Automation Engineer to join our Iberia project team. You will design, configure and commission digital protection systems, integrating protection, automation, and industrial communications to deliver robust electrical networks on site.

You will work across LV/MV protection, select relays, translate protection studies into relay settings, and develop advanced IED logic while coordinating with SCADA and Energy Management systems.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in electrical protection systems across projects.
• Experience with protection relays and IEDs.
• Knowledge of low and medium voltage distribution.
• Understanding protection settings and coordination principles.
• Familiarity with IEC/IEEE standards related to protection.
• Experience with IEC 61850 and GOOSE messaging.
• Experience with Modbus and other industrial protocols.
• SCADA and monitoring/control systems exposure.
• Experience in FAT/SAT/commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Designing and configuring protection systems for LV/MV networks.
• Selecting appropriate relays and IEDs per project requirements.
• Translating protection studies into relay settings and configurations.
• Configuring protection functions, interlocks and control sequences.
• Developing advanced logic in IEDs and automation functions.
• Configuring and integrating IEC 61850 communications.
• Working with IEC 61850 engineering, GOOSE messaging and IED comms.
• Creating IED communication files and integrating with SCADA/EMS.
• Defining Ethernet/IP architectures for devices.
• Performing testing and commissioning activities (FAT/SAT).
