Job Description

Philippines Pacific Building Systems, Inc. (PPBSI) is looking for a Design Estimator responsible for preparing accurate and competitive quotations for pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) projects. This role includes reviewing project documents, understanding customer requirements, coordinating with managers and other internal departments, and developing cost estimates in accordance with company standards and project specifications. The Design Estimator is expected to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and timely completion of assigned estimates.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for PEMB projects based on available project information, customer requirements, and provided drawings or bid documents.
• Review and analyze project documents including plans, specifications, bid packages, and addenda to determine project scope and pricing requirements.
• Use company estimating systems and tools to prepare, update, and maintain project quotations and related data.
• Develop preliminary building configurations and estimating inputs based on project requirements and applicable design criteria.
• Perform basic quantity take-offs and calculations to support accurate estimating inputs.
• Apply PBS estimating standards, pricing guidelines, and complexity requirements to maintain consistency and accuracy across all quotations.
• Ensure all estimates are completed and submitted within required deadlines, particularly for time-sensitive bid projects.

Coordination & Communication

• Coordinate with internal teams such as sales coordinators, engineers, and detailers as needed during the estimating process.
• Support communication related to project clarifications and pricing updates through internal channels, as applicable.
• Participate in estimating reviews, training meetings, and internal discussions related to project scope, pricing, and estimating standards.
• Maintain organized project files, estimate records, and supporting documentation, including estimating notes and assumptions used in quotations.

Process Improvement & Support

• Follow company estimating standards and procedures to maintain consistency across quotations.
• Assist in updating estimating guidelines, templates, and standard practices as needed.
• Support training and knowledge sharing within the estimating department.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to estimating accuracy and workflow efficiency.
• Provide support in reviewing and checking estimating outputs as needed, depending on experience level and assignment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or any related engineering course
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and understand basic structural concepts
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work within deadlines
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
• Good problem-solving skills and sound judgment
• Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and professionalism in the workplace

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in PEMB estimating is an advantage but not required
• Experience using estimating software such as MBS, MBS Project, and Bluebeam
• Familiarity with estimating workflows, coordination processes, and construction-related documentation
• Experience handling multiple projects in a fast-paced estimating environment
