Job summary

Globe Telecom in the Philippines is seeking a DC Site Operations M&E Specialist to ensure the reliability of the data center’s mechanical and electrical systems. You will oversee 24x7 operations, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to incidents to maintain service continuity with energy efficiency goals.

Responsibilities include monitoring CRACs, chillers, PDUs, UPS and related equipment, coordinating with vendors, and enforcing ITIL-aligned processes.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of relevant work experience in 24x7 DC or facility operations, or fresh graduate with building services or mechanical engineering qualifications.
• General knowledge of Network Critical Infrastructure.
• Good knowledge in M&E and building facilities-related systems such as CRACs, Chiller, PDUs, UPS, Switchgear, DX cooling, network cabling, and security.
• Meticulous team player able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as Level 1 escalation point for onsite incidents, resolving issues within SLA.
• Understand and maintain M&E, security, network, and plumbing systems.
• Document and update requests on the internal ticketing system.

• Coordinate and inspect work with contractors and vendors.
• Plan and support preventive and reactive maintenance with minimal disruption.

Job Description

The DC Site Operations M&E Specialist position is a critical role within the Data Center Site Operations (DCSO) team, responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and availability of the data center's mechanical and electrical (M&E) infrastructure. The role exists to support the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of mission‑critical systems, including power, cooling, fire protection, and associated facility equipment, to ensure uninterrupted data center services. Operating within established safety, operational, and maintenance procedures, the M&E Specialist performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance activities, incident response, and technical troubleshooting to achieve the long‑term objectives of infrastructure resilience, operational excellence, energy efficiency, and service continuity.

Manages and services large‑scale ‘in‑country’ data centre infrastructure and facilities to ensure 24x7 operations in rotating shifts. Proactive coordination and escalation related to site operational issues and client’s requirements ensuring great customer experience at all times while also taking guidance and complying with STT GDC GDCO policies and standards.

• Support and ensure smooth 24x7 running of the operations in the ‘in‑country’ data centre.
• Acts as Level 1 escalation point by overseeing and resolving all onsite operational incidents and major issues, responding & performing remote requests within SLA.
• Understands the M&E, security, network and plumbing systems of the building, critical facilities equipment and other equipment associated with the DC environment.
• Documents and updates accurately all requests on the internal web portal ticketing system such as user requests, incidents, provisioning, etc.
• Implements best‑in‑class DC operations based on ITIL and industry practices.
• Delivers ITIL compliance process conformance for incident, problem and change management.
• Ensures effective implementations of safety, security and customer support policies and procedures.
• Coordinates and provides support to contractors and vendors as well as inspecting completed work.
• Plans and supports all preventive and reactive maintenance activities with little to no disruption to the company’s services.
• Participates and supports internal and external audits for internal stakeholders and customers.
• Generates accurate and regular reports when required.
• Any other duties or projects as assigned by the management.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of relevant work experience in 24x7 DC or facility operations environment, or fresh graduate with relevant qualifications such as building services, mechanical engineering.
• Possess general knowledge of Network Critical Infrastructure.
• Good knowledge in M&E and building facilities‑related systems, such as CRACs, Chiller, PDUs, UPS, Switchgears Ops, DX cooling, Network structure cabling, Security, etc.
• Meticulous team player with the ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.

Other Preferred Skills

• Possess relevant facilities management and/or data centre‑related certifications, such as ITIL, PMP, Uptime Institute and TIA‑942.
• Familiar with certification standards, such as ISO 20000 / 22301 / 27001, 45001, 9001, Uptime Institute, TIA‑942.
• Good contractor management and collaboration skills to work with cross‑functional teams.
• Prepared to be on 24x7 standby recall to provide extra manpower coverage when necessary.
