Job Description

The Mechanical Design Engineer is crucial for managing the full lifecycle of data center design and construction projects. This position exists to ensure projects are delivered effectively, meeting both quality and budgetary targets within predefined timelines. Operating within the strategic directives set by the Head of Design and Construction, this role is vital for maintaining the standards and growth objectives of the organization.

Professional Background And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Project Manager: At least 5 years in project management, with a preference for backgrounds in data centers, technology, or telecommunications.
• PMP or other relevant project management certification preferred.

Knowledge And Skills

• Data Center Operations Knowledge – In-depth understanding of the operational requirements and challenges of running a data center, including energy management, cooling systems, and security protocols.
• Regulatory Compliance – Familiarity with local and international building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards applicable to construction and data centers.
• Financial Acumen – Ability to manage and oversee large project budgets, including cost forecasting, risk management, and financial reporting.
• Sustainable Building Practices – Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and the integration of green technologies in building design, particularly for energy efficiency and waste reduction in data centers.
• Stakeholder Management Skills – Proficiency in managing and navigating relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, contractors, government agencies, and community groups.
• Advanced Risk Management – Advanced skills in identifying potential project risks, including technical, financial, and operational, and developing effective mitigation strategies.
• Technology Integration – Understanding of the latest technologies in construction and data center management, including automation tools, project management software, and BIM (Building Information Modeling).
