Job summary

Michael Page is partnering with a well-established organisation operating critical infrastructure assets to recruit a Maintenance Lead for port equipment. You will drive reliability, oversee heavy equipment and crane maintenance, and lead shift-based teams to ensure safe, timely execution.

You will coordinate with planning, prioritize critical activities, provide technical guidance, and maintain accurate records in the CMMS.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics engineering.
• Experience supervising maintenance teams and managing shift operations.
• Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance principles.

Responsibilities

• Drive reliability of critical port equipment and maintenance operations.
• Lead and manage all shift-based maintenance and repair activities for heavy equipment and crane operations.
• Allocate manpower, assign work orders, and monitor maintenance execution.
• Coordinate with planning teams to execute preventive and corrective maintenance programmes effectively.
• Evaluate equipment defects, assess operational risks, and prioritise maintenance activities.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to maintenance personnel and contractors.
• Review maintenance records and ensure accurate documentation within the maintenance management system.
• Support process excellence and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
• Assist in spare parts planning, procurement requirements, and technical specification reviews.
• Manage workforce scheduling, leave planning, and resource allocation across shifts.
• Promote and enforce compliance with health, safety, environmental, and security standards, including toolbox talks and safety briefings.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in maintenance operations involving heavy equipment, cranes, ports, terminals, industrial plants, manufacturing, or similar environments.
• Experience supervising maintenance teams and managing shift operations.
• Strong knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance principles.
• Ability to assess equipment risks, prioritise maintenance activities, and make sound operational decisions.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
• Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

Good-to-Haves

• Experience with quay cranes (QC), RTGs, container handling equipment, or port operations.
• Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as Mainpac or equivalent platforms.
• Exposure to reliability-centred maintenance, root cause analysis, and asset management methodologies.
• Experience leading continuous improvement or process excellence projects.
• Knowledge of spare parts planning and inventory optimisation.
