Overview
The Cook (Commissary) prepares, cooks, and presents food according to company recipes and quality standards. This role ensures timely production of meals, maintains food safety and hygiene, and supports the smooth operation of the commissary kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes.
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet production schedules.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations.
- Monitor food quality, taste, and presentation before serving or delivery.
- Follow proper food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures.
- Manage inventory by checking stock, rotating supplies, and minimizing waste.
- Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate workflow and production.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and standards at all times.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary or food-related training is a plus.
- Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a commissary, catering, or restaurant setting.
- Knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and portion control.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (e.g., HACCP).
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle kitchen tasks.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Flexible to work varying shifts, including weekends or holidays if required.
