• Experience managing contractors and vendors.
• Hotel opening or major project experience is a plus.
• Licenses as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Engineering team to maintain hotel facilities and guest areas to brand and safety standards.

• Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety, and environmental standards.
• Prepare and manage engineering budgets, capex plans, and energy initiatives.
• Oversee third-party contractors and service providers for quality and cost efficiency.
• Respond to operational challenges and emergencies minimizing guest disruption.
• Develop, coach, and motivate the Engineering team to achieve hotel objectives.
• Collaborate with departments on operational excellence, sustainability, and property projects.
• Build relationships with government bodies, owners’ representatives, and partners as needed.

A little taste of your day-to-day:

Every day is different, but youll mostly be:

• Leading the Engineering team in maintaining all hotel facilities, plant equipment, building systems, and guest areas to brand and safety standards
• Managing preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and efficiency of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire life safety systems
• Ensuring compliance with all local regulations, safety requirements, environmental standards, and company policies
• Preparing and managing engineering budgets, capital expenditure plans, energy conservation initiatives, and maintenance contracts
• Overseeing third-party contractors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure quality work and cost-effective solutions
• Responding to operational challenges and emergency situations while minimizing disruption to guests and hotel operations
• Developing, coaching, and motivating the Engineering team to achieve departmental and hotel objectives
• Collaborating with other departments to support operational excellence, guest satisfaction, sustainability goals, and property improvement projects
• Building strong relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, owners representatives, and business partners as needed

What we need from you:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Valid Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME) License
• At least five (5) years of progressive engineering leadership experience, preferably within the hospitality industry
• Strong knowledge of hotel building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, generators, boilers, elevators, and fire life safety systems
• Proven experience in preventive maintenance planning, project management, budgeting, and regulatory compliance
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Experience managing contractors, vendors, and technical service providers
• Hotel opening, renovation, or major project experience is an advantage
• Professional certifications and licenses as required by law
