Job summary

CHARLIE'S EL NIDO seeks a Facilities Engineer to manage and maintain hotel electrical and mechanical systems, oversee preventive maintenance, and drive energy conservation and crisis management initiatives. You will lead a maintenance team, coordinate departments, and ensure high guest satisfaction through reliable facilities operations.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of building systems, MEP, HVAC, generators, water treatment, and fire & life safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular preventive maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment, fixtures, and hotel façade.
• Prepare and submit preventive maintenance reports to General Manager.
• Review maintenance problems and prioritise work orders.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning systems and equipment.
• Coordinate crisis management and energy conservation efforts.
• Maintain records and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

About the role

Responsible for the management and maintenance of the external and internal facilities including electrical and mechanical equipment, plumbing, carpentry, and office and room fixtures ensuring that the facilities, equipment, and fixtures are in good running condition. The scope of the job is not limited to the management and maintenance of the property but includes crisis management, preventive maintenance, energy conservation activities, and other innovative approaches that would result to profits and savings.

Key responsibilities

I. General Preventive Maintenance, Management, and Control

1. Perform regular preventive maintenance of all electrical and mechanical equipments, fixtures, and internal and external façade of the hotel:

2. Prepare and submit preventive maintenance report to the General Manager as scheduled

3. Review maintenance problems, complaints and work orders to prioritize and schedule work

4. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning mechanical and electrical systems and equipment

5. Evaluate the preventive maintenance program and recommends improvement and best practice

6. Respond to emergencies and takes appropriate action

7. Establish control systems of tools, supplies, engineering keys, engineering plans, work drawings, manuals, service records, and reports

8. Maintain and update preventive maintenance reports / documents

9. Monitor agency employees and ensures compliance to policies and procedures

10. Manage guests complaints and ensures guest satisfaction for work done

11. Recommend equipment’s due for upgrades, repairs, or replacements

12. Ensure that Maintenance staff are knowledgeable and skilful on the execution of the preventive maintenance program

II. Crisis Management

1. Coordinate with other departments and participates and be actively involved in the crisis management program of the hotel

2. Conduct fire drill twice a year and coordinates with local government and Corporate Chief Security for execution

3. Ensure that crisis management and prevention programs are strictly adhered to by the engineering department

III. Energy Conservation

1. Take proactive approach in monitoring water and energy consumption of the common areas and individual units / guest rooms by analysing and recommending conservation measures to lower down the cost

2. Ensure that all departments complied with the energy conservation program of the company

3. Prepare the energy conservation report and submits to the General Manager as scheduled

IV. Other Duties

1. Conduct regular inventory of engineering equipment’s and tools and ensures that documentation and recording are maintained and updated

2. Conduct performance evaluation as scheduled

3. Prepare reports as required or may be needed

4. Perform other duties that may be assigned

5. Attends trainings and seminar

What we're looking for

1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field; Professional License is preferred.

2. Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a hotel, resort, or hospitality setting.

3. Strong knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing), HVAC, generators, water treatment, and fire & life safety systems.

4. Proven leadership, planning, budgeting, and project management skills with the ability to lead and develop an engineering team.

5. Familiar with hotel engineering standards, occupational safety regulations, and preventive maintenance programs.

6. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.

7. Proficient in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS is an advantage).

8. Willing to be assigned in El Nido, Palawan.
